my "CAN/DO T-DOLLS DO X?" notes

- Feel pain when damage is significant
- Detect scents
- Sleep (but not dream.)
- Make memories
- Forget memories (except if you're RPK.)
- Become uncomfortable from high or low temperatures
- Eat
- Cry
- Lie
- Make jokes
- Display and feel emotion
- Experience compulsions.
- RPK was programmed with the ability to "Defy," aka bypass by her own choice the doll imperative to obey human orders, and particularly to bypass the restriction on harming them. from how she talks she does still perceive where this imperative would come up; please imagine something like a command to null (action) popping up and her going on her merry way breaking fingers anyway.
if she tells you she can't do [x] thing and requires human permission she is lying to you (about she herself) but not about dolls in general.

"Regular periods of "sleep" are necessary for Dolls to clear their memory cache. An overloaded cache will hinder a Doll's processing capacity and cause her to make mistakes or malfunction. Standard Dolls are not able to dream but may involuntarily access old memories, or suffer from hallucinations as a side-effect of neural cloud instability or during self-diagnosis and repair. A lack of storage space may cause a Doll to not be able to create more memories, causing other malfunctions."

- speaking of jokes, RPK specifically utilizes passive aggression / uses 'is jokes' as a cover for expressing genuine or discomforting topics.- Display and feel emotion

"All these cutesy 'quirks' (favored foods, verbal tics, etc.) are just programmed into the dolls on manufacture to appeal to human owners and a doll describes her own particular quirk of collecting cigarette boxes in terms someone with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder might use to describe their condition."
